About Me

I started off as an Island Girl but somehow ended up in the Midwest. Here’s my story…

I was born and raised on Orcas Island, Washington, which is located South of Vancouver, British Columbia. I grew up in small house that has been in the family for several generations, just a block from the beach. I attended the same school my dad and his siblings graduated from. I was there from Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade and finally graduated from there in 2015.

My mother worked for the YMCA up until I was in 6th grade, the Y was a big part of my life. Even after she left I volunteered with the horse camp for several summers. Every grade had the weird horse girl, I was that girl. I proceeded to focus on showing horses as I went into middle school and high school and I left the YMCA behind.

After graduating high school, I moved out to South Dakota with my horse to attend Black Hills State University. However, my gypsy soul caused me to move around, even though I stuck close to the black hills. I couldn’t make my mind up about my major or career, I jumped from schools, and even leased out my horse for awhile. But I believe everything happened for a reason…

As of right now, I’m settled in Rapid City, with my dog, Sullie, my cat, Tojo, and my horse, Fancy. I work at the YMCA of Rapid City as a site coordinator for an after school program. I attend Lake Area Technical Institute through their online program and I’m majoring in Human Resources.

It has taken a while to settle my gypsy soul, however I’m very happy being a Midwest girl with Island girl roots.
